Spotlight: BEST Universal Benefits

Ability of business to quickly modify systems to meet emergent needs with minimal IT support

What's New in ERP?

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is not what it used to be. These "backbone" systems provide a full range of core business functions for enterprises such as the Commonwealth and have been around for many years. However, just as listening to music has evolved from analog to digital (think cassettes to iPods to Spotify), a new era of ERP is emerging - becoming more flexible, able to integrate with other applications, and moving from on premise installations to the cloud.

Recent events have amplified the need for organizations to deliver innovation quickly and adapt applications dynamically to keep up with the pace of business changes. ERP solutions that are configurable rather than customized permit frequent software upgrades to support changing technology and permit business owners to choose among a robust array of options to implement business process flows. New approaches to data integration mean that applications not part of the core ERP can share data in ways that reduce or eliminate duplicate data entry and repetitive processes.

With a strong Core ERP at the center of Commonwealth's enterprise solutions, the future will be defined by integrated applications that can deliver robust customer-defined business capabilities.
